I have made a Pinterest board recently. It is full of golden colour and sights that revive emotions of comfort and home despite the fact the weather will evidently be turning for the worse now.

Learning, Dyslexia & Creativity

I just recently spoke at a teachers training day on my experiences as  a student and it inspired me to write a little too.
I love learning, I always have had a passion for discovery and the feeling of achievement when you learn new things and develop your thinking.
This has not always been simple for me though,  Continue reading

A Rest At ile Tudy

A Rest At Ile Tudy  By Christine Graham

sketchbook and poemThe boat was gentle rocking, as it had done on the outward crossing, but then I was a different person, an exhausted grey wraith. Closed in on myself like a limpet, clinging to the rock, waiting for the returning tide.

Woodland breeze

Hello folks!

Having just shared about the wonders of being outdoors I just wanted to encourage those readers living in the UK especially In the midlands area that Bluebell walk in Shrawley Wood is well worth an afternoon visit!

It would also be lovely for students new to the area, Internationals and tourists visiting Worcestershire to experience as it is quintessentially British, and really the best of England outdoors!

The sounds of birds, lambs, and bees is just so other than what you normally hear, and the smells!!!

Oh the flowers smell glorious! It is most certainly soul food! Continue reading

Fresh Air and flowers

spring flowers England

I cannot gush enough about the beautiful sensation of being outdoors!
It is healthy, soul restoring and peaceful. This is why I am truly grateful that the flowers are blossoming and the weather is making an effort to be friendly once more.

When the weather is harsh there really isn’t that same kind and easy atmosphere, one has to fight the elements. I can’t say how much I dislike the cold. Ever since I returned from my year long trip to the 30-40 degrees of humid Thailand, I have found chilliness difficult to bear. I am now easing in to the British climate and with that my inner wild woman appears!

Russian Tea Party

Ukraine Easter tea party

Bank Holiday Monday is just past and it left me with a wonderful subject to write about as we had a Russian Tea Party!

As I assured people we invited ‘Don’t worry everyone Russian drinking traditions does not include hours of standing on your head whilst slurping various weird teas made out of what looks like weeds.. or does it?’ Here is actually what was involved with our sun warmed party in the garden; Continue reading

Business involves allot!

LucyChrista beautiful presents and delightful products
Business involves allot! It starts with vision with an eye and a heart with a passion for something and there you have your idea! That is really the fun bit, being inspired and being able to turn that into a job and a service other people will enjoy too, but running a business is also a massive challenge!!

There is so much involved and so many things one must remember to do with marketing, web optimisation, sourcing products and financing, committing time to making products as well as selling them.. well I could go on and the thing is there are many of us out there! Craft makers, entrepreneurs and you are just all so cleaver! So many ideas and so much backbone I thought I must have an area on this blog in which I can share with you my findings as I set up a business and perhaps it will help a few of you on your way too.

Giving Gifts, ‘a little something’

Heart Gift

Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Weddings, Baby showers and anniversaries are all moments when gifts are so significant. They do not always take the form of a box of chocolates or an x-box game. I have often found myself needing to be creative about gifts with wanting to give something individual, thoughtful and desired.

Sometimes I have turned to an act of service lifting a load with the skills that I have. That is however quite rare an opportunity and I always like to give something more than just a help, as whatever it is, my hearts true desire is to give them the feeling that they are cherished. This means it has to be out of the ordinary, there must be a specialness or an element of surprise.  Continue reading

Synergy: a joyful thing to savour

Missing a Friend or a Family member can be a soulful affair. It is said that one should see the positives, the delight that you have someone to care about that much. You have found these wonderful and special people. However that does not change the reality that when you think of them there can be a pang.  The cliché of missing them is like missing a part of yourself is not far off. These friends bring different parts of you forward, likewise you do this for them, and this synergy is a joyful thing to savour.

Easter Cake

Well Easter is only just finished and finally there is some warmer sunlight peeping through, hopefully spring is on its way?!

Over Easter I was thinking about what holiday gift I might be able to give to the family when we meet together. A homemade gift seemed to me to be the best plan and being that my Mum cherishes all feeling of occasion and family gathering; this gave me an idea of how to bless her and make something enjoyable for everyone. Cake!

A Simnel cake is traditionally made for Easter to celebrate New Life. A lush fruit cake topped in marzipan, decorated with flowers or 11 round marzipan balls representing the apostles minus Judas.
So great! Full of meaning, Mum would love that and everyone else adores marzipan, only one problem I don’t have the money nor time to create the original recipe.
I looked into the cupboards there was a few raisins, several tins of pineapples, and half a bag of self-raising flour, a wee bit of sugar, honey and eggs. No butter, not enough eggs and not enough fruit. So I became daring and chose a muffin mixture recipe for my cake: carrot cake muffin with small pineapple chunks. It tasted great! Here is the recipe:
